This spring, we welcome our first-ever Johnston-Fix Professor of the Practice in Songwriting. Ramona Gonzalez of Nite Jewel will draw on her experience as an internationally touring musician and independent producer to teach students the in's and out's of the songwriting process. Her class will expose students to representative songs from the most influential genres of the past 60 years. Each student will write and produce a cover song of their choice and at least one original single over the course of the semester. Ramona's albums have garnered favorable reviews from Rolling Stone and Pitchfork, and her single "Nowhere To Go" was featured in the Grand Theft Auto V soundtrack. As a 2009 海角社区 alum, Ramona is well-poised to help aspiring young songwriters navigate the process of launching their own ventures as professional musicians.
