Associate Director

Jeremy earned his B.S. in Aquatic Biology from UC Santa Barbara in 2000. He later joined the VRG in 2009 as a post-doctoral researcher after earning his M.S. and Ph.D. in Zoology from the University of Hawaii, Manoa. Jeremy is currently Associate Director of the VRG and an Assistant Professor in the Biological Sciences Department at Cal Poly Pomona focusing on . Jeremy has published over 25 peer-reviewed papers on topics including life history and ecology of marine organisms associated with reef ecosystems, including kelp forest systems here in California, coral reef systems in Hawaii, and manmade reef habitats (e.g., artificial rocky fishing reefs and breakwaters, submerged structures of oil platforms and offshore renewable energy developments), with a particular emphasis on marine conservation, fisheries management, and marine protected areas. Jeremy鈥檚 current role at the VRG includes experimental design and implementation of monitoring and sampling protocols, determining best practices for data management and statistical analyses, and biological/spatial modeling.
