Why do you want to be a physician?

I’ve wanted to be a physician since I was a little kid. I’ve always been interested in science, particularly about the human body, and have always loved helping people. As a doctor I hope to combine those passions in a way that can make a difference in the health of my community.

What did you do during your gap year?

I worked as a research associate at a diagnostics company working on oncology related PCR based tests.

How did you get there from ?

My senior comps presentation set me up perfectly for my job in oncology. My comps was about breast cancer and potential treatments. The knowledge I gained through my presentation as well as my ability to read journal articles (learned through upper level classes) set me up excellently. Getting into Med school from was also a very positive experience. The pre-health office was incredibly helpful, whether it was through email, Skype, or calls for interview prep. The biology department was also incredibly helpful in writing my letters of recommendation. I grew very close with a handful of professors who were there to support me throughout the process.
